CVE: CVE-2026-20200

Advisory Summary

🔔 🚨 Cisco IMC Argument Injection — Authenticated RCE to Root
Cisco disclosed multiple high-severity vulnerabilities in the web-based management interface of Cisco Integrated Management Controller (IMC). A threat actor who is authenticated to the interface could submit malicious inputs that enable argument injection, resulting in arbitrary command execution on the underlying OS and privilege escalation to root.

🛠️ Actionable guidance (do this now)
1. Patch immediately: Apply Cisco’s released software updates for the affected IMC versions.
2. Verify upgrade impact: Confirm IMC management services are running the patched release and validate expected build/version compliance.
3. Harden access: Restrict IMC web access to dedicated admin networks only; block access from non-management subnets.
4. Re-check authentication controls: Enforce MFA where available, rotate potentially exposed credentials, and review admin user privilege scope.
5. Detect abuse attempts: Hunt for anomalous IMC web requests and command-like payload patterns—especially during periods of admin login activity.

🧠 Operational priority
Given the combination of authenticated remote code execution and root escalation with no workarounds, this should be treated as an urgent remediation item for any fleet that uses Cisco IMC (especially where management interfaces are reachable beyond tightly controlled admin VLANs).
