CISCO Security Advisory
Published Date: Not specified
CVE: CVE-2026-76448
Advisory Summary
🔐 Title: ⛔ Cisco ISE SQL/HQL Injection—Authenticated Remote Risk
Cisco has published security updates for Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and Cisco ISE Passive Identity Connector (ISE-PIC) addressing multiple SQL/HQL injection vulnerabilities (Security Impact Rating: Medium).
⚠️ What’s happening
The flaws stem from insufficient validation of user-supplied input to affected APIs before that input is used to construct database queries. An attacker can send a crafted request to the device and, if successful, execute arbitrary SQL or HQL statements against the underlying database.
- Attacker requirements: valid administrative credentials (authenticated access).
- Potential impact: view or modify data the attacker is not authorized to access.
- Affected area: ISE / ISE-PIC backend data querying paths.
- Updates released to address the vulnerabilities.
- No workarounds are provided—patching is the primary remediation path.
✅ Actionable recommendations (do now)
1. Identify exposure: confirm which ISE / ISE-PIC versions and deployment components are in scope.
2. Prioritize patching: schedule immediate upgrade to the Cisco security-fixed software release(s) referenced in the advisory.
3. Harden admin access: ensure administrative credentials are tightly controlled (least privilege where possible, MFA, strong password policies, and restricted admin network paths).
4. Validate detection: review logs for suspicious API/request patterns around ISE query endpoints and related administrative activity.
5. Segment & restrict: limit network reachability to ISE management/admin surfaces to only trusted networks.
