🔔 Critical Vulnerabilities Found in ClamAV Impact Cisco Security Products
Cisco has announced multiple high-severity vulnerabilities in ClamAV, an open-source antivirus engine integrated into Cisco Secure Endpoint Connectors. These vulnerabilities could permit remote attackers to trigger denial of service (DoS) attacks, severely disrupting malware scanning operations.
- The highest risk applies to Windows-based platforms, where ClamAV runs with privileged security rights, notably including the Cisco Secure Endpoint Connector for Windows. The Security Impact Rating (SIR) here is classified as High.
- Linux and Mac platform connectors are assessed at Medium risk since their scanning processes operate in less privileged contexts.
- Importantly, the Cisco Secure Endpoint Private Cloud itself remains unaffected; only the connector software distributed from it is vulnerable.
