HPE Security Advisory

Advisory Summary
📅 October 24, 2026
HPE has published HPESBGN05174 rev.1, notifying customers that certain HPE products are impacted by multiple PHP vulnerabilities that can enable PHP2Shell behavior—i.e., an attacker leveraging PHP flaws to obtain command execution or a shell-like capability via vulnerable PHP components.
- Remote code execution / command execution pathways through web-facing or management interfaces
- Privilege escalation depending on deployment context and filesystem permissions
- Lateral movement if the affected system is connected to broader management networks
- Any HPE product versions/modules that include PHP runtime/components or PHP-based web applications
- Systems that expose management/web interfaces to untrusted networks (even indirectly via load balancers, reverse proxies, or jump hosts)
- Presence of third-party integrations that may invoke PHP in orchestration workflows
- Strict network segmentation for management/web interfaces
- WAF / reverse proxy hardening (where applicable) to block exploit patterns
- Least privilege for service accounts running PHP/application workloads
- Internet-reachable or broadly accessible management endpoints
- Multi-tenant or externally routed web portals
- Environments where PHP is used for orchestration, admin consoles, or diagnostics
- Ensure management interfaces are accessible only from trusted admin networks
- Disable or restrict any unnecessary web functionality that relies on PHP
- Keep automation and admin tooling updated, since these often become pivot points after initial compromise
